Essential Office Skills Program
About This Program
The Essential Office Skills Program is a flagship youth employability initiative of Progress Through Innovation Society (PI-BD), designed to bridge the gap between academic education and the practical competencies required in today’s competitive job market. While many young people complete higher education, they often lack hands-on experience in office management, information and communication technology (ICT), professional English, and workplace ethics. This program directly addresses that gap by preparing young people to become confident, skilled, and career-ready professionals.
The program delivers a three-month, 60-hour structured training through a blended learning approach, combining online and offline sessions supported by smart classroom technology. Participants receive practical, job-oriented training in office management, ICT tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace), business and professional English communication, office etiquette, time management, teamwork, and leadership. The curriculum is designed to reflect real workplace demands, ensuring the immediate application of skills in professional settings.
To date, the program has successfully completed three batches - two in Bagerhat District and one in Charfasson, Bhola District - demonstrating strong and consistent outcomes. A total of 34 participants have graduated from the program. Monitoring and evaluation results show that 95% of participants reported increased confidence and professional capability, while 72% achieved above-average performance. Many graduates have secured internships and employment opportunities, and clear improvements have been observed in their ICT proficiency, English communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. The course is now widely recognized among young people as a “Career-Ready Skill Program.”
The Essential Office Skills Program is implemented by a team of experienced national and international trainers, including corporate professionals and IT specialists, and follows a rigorous assessment and certification process to ensure quality and credibility.
Looking forward, PI-BD aims to expand the program nationwide by conducting 2-3 batches annually to maintain continuity and scale impact. Future plans include launching online and recorded versions of the course to reach youth in remote and underserved areas, introducing advanced English and ICT modules, and establishing partnerships with private sector organizations to facilitate internship placements and employment linkages. Ultimately, the program is envisioned as a nationally recognized certificate program, contributing sustainably to youth employability, workforce readiness, and inclusive development in Bangladesh.
