Chairman

Dr. Jasimuz Zaman joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as a lecturer in 1963 and served as a professor from 1972 to 1992, playing a leading role in academia, research, and university–industry collaboration. He later spent about eighteen years teaching and conducting research at the University of Calgary and Devry Institute of Technology, alongside industrial consulting in Calgary, Canada. He founded and chaired several organizations in Canada and Bangladesh, including the Association of Engineers at Calgary (ABEAC), BUET Chemical Engineering Forum (BCEF), Alliance for Progress Worldwide (APWCANADA), and Engineering Resources International Ltd (ERI). From 2010 to 2021, he served full-time as Country Director of Volunteers Association for Bangladesh (VAB), where he developed and implemented a quality education model in 50 rural high schools. He introduced group-based learning and Leadership Group training to enhance student participation. He currently promotes the concept of “Shikkher Shamajik Daaitto” (SSD), encouraging community engagement to ensure quality education for all children.

Muhammad Nazmul Haq is an educationist and former Professor of Education at the Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka. He is the Founding Director of the Teacher Development Institute (TDI) and has over four decades of experience in teacher education, educational psychology, inclusive education, and research. Throughout his career, he has held key academic and consultancy roles with national and international organizations, including UNICEF, UNESCO, USAID, and the Government of Bangladesh. He has led and contributed to numerous national assessments, policy reviews, and research studies on primary, secondary, and early childhood education. A prolific author, he has written and edited many books, training modules, and research publications in Bangla and English, particularly in educational psychology, special education, and curriculum development. He continues to contribute to national education initiatives through advisory, training, and research activities

ATM KAMRUJJAMAN

ATM KAMRUJJAMAN

ATM Kamrujjaman is an experienced development professional with over two decades of leadership in education, training, and project management. He has extensive experience in curriculum development, teacher training, digital literacy, and multi-stakeholder program implementation across Bangladesh. As the Executive Director of Progress through Innovation Society, he leads strategic planning, capacity building, and innovative education initiatives aimed at improving learning opportunities for teachers, students, and underserved communities. He holds an MSS in Development Studies from East West University and has worked with national and international organizations including BRAC, Dnet, British Council.

DR. MOLLA AZFARUL HAQUE

Dr. Molla Azfarul Haque is a highly experienced senior professional with an extensive career spanning government service, education, planning, and development administration. He holds a PhD in Geomorphology and has served for decades in senior leadership and policy-level positions at the Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC), including roles such as Chief Planning, Joint Secretary, and Deputy Secretary. His expertise covers strategic planning, project appraisal, public sector management, human resource administration, and large-scale development program coordination. Alongside his academic and professional contributions, he has published widely on geography, water resources, and agriculture-related issues. He is currently serving as the Treasurer at Progress through Innovation Society, where he provides financial oversight, strategic guidance, and governance support to education and development-focused initiatives.

Mariam Begum is a distinguished educationist and former Professor at the Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka. With a PhD in English Education, she has over two decades of university teaching experience and extensive expertise in teacher education, English language teaching (ELT), curriculum development, and educational research. Throughout her career, she has worked with major national and international organizations, including UNICEF, the British Council, NCTB, CAMPE, and NAEM. She has played key roles in developing English teaching materials, designing teacher training manuals, conducting Training of Trainers (ToT), and strengthening continuous professional development initiatives for teachers across Bangladesh. A prolific author and researcher, Mariam Begum has published books, teachers’ guides, and many research articles on ELT, language acquisition, classroom practices, and education policy. She continues to contribute to improving the quality of English language teaching and teacher professional development in Bangladesh.

URMI LOHANI

URMI LOHANI

Urmi Lohani is an experienced content development and communications professional with strong expertise in copywriting, editing, translation, and project management. She has produced a wide range of content in Bangla and English, including biographies for the Gunijan portal, pharmaceutical product materials for Beximco Pharmaceuticals, and feature film writing. She is highly skilled in multilingual translation, working across English, Bangla, and Russian. She has held key coordination and leadership roles, notably as Coordinator of the Gunijan Program at Dnet and later as CEO of Gunijan Trust, where she led the development and management of Bangladesh’s largest Bangla-language portal on eminent citizens. Her work spans content management, research, partnership development, and international correspondence, particularly in pharmaceutical product registration and clinical study coordination. With experience in both corporate and social sectors, Urmi Lohani brings strong capabilities in communication product design, knowledge management, and cross-country collaboration, continuing to contribute to impactful knowledge and content initiatives.

SARKER JAVED IQBAL

Sarker Javed Iqbal is a seasoned education and development professional with over 28 years of experience working with international NGOs in Bangladesh. Currently a freelance consultant, he specializes in training design and facilitation, project cycle management, monitoring and evaluation, and document review, editing, and translation. He has supported organizations such as the British Council, Plan International Bangladesh, Save the Children, Room to Read, and Sesame Workshop Bangladesh. Earlier in his career, he served as Early Childhood Care and Development Specialist at Plan International and held multiple leadership roles at Save the Children USA, where he contributed to program design, teacher training, child rights initiatives, and community-based education programs. He has extensive experience in developing training materials, conducting Training of Trainers (ToT), and strengthening child-centered and positive discipline approaches. A graduate in Bangla Literature from Jahangirnagar University with a B.Ed. in Primary Education, he is also an author of children’s storybooks and parenting materials. He continues to support education and child development initiatives through consultancy, training, and technical assistance.
