We empower underprivileged youth in Bangladesh through holistic education and technology — bridging learning gaps, promoting digital literacy, and inspiring sustainable, resilient futures.
At Progress through Innovation (PI), we believe transformation begins with access to meaningful education and practical skills. Our programs are currently making a difference across more than 15 districts of Bangladesh, reaching learners from diverse backgrounds and geographies.
The English Skills Development (ESD) program is a new project by Progress Through Innovation. It uses computers and multimedia tools in Computer Literacy Centers (CLCs) or Smart Class Rooms (SCRs) to make learning English fun for students.
The program started in 2023 as a trial in twenty-five schools that have Smart Class Rooms. ESD helps 4th to 6th grade students in Bangladesh get better at English. It uses fun and creative video lessons taught by ESL certified teachers. The lessons cover how to pronounce words, build vocabulary, learn grammar, and use English in everyday life. The goal is to teach English in a way that doesn't use the students' first language, giving them a strong base in English. This unique project was developed through a collaboration between ESL-certified teachers from the USA and experienced educators from Bangladesh.
The initial phase of the ESD project entails the creation of content in the previously mentioned areas. Progress Through Innovation has developed 32 video-recorded lessons, with each video representing an individual class session. These classes are conducted by Ms. Gazi Tahrima Maryam, an EGL-certified teacher from the USA. Furthermore, the PI team has crafted an attractive lesson plan and teacher's guide, meticulously aligning each video with its corresponding lesson in the PI curriculum.
Features:
An ESD class takes place during one regular class period, which is about 20 minutes long. These sessions are scheduled in regular school hours. In each session, students watch one video. A local teacher, trained by PI, leads the entire session. They use a detailed lesson plan to help guide how they run the session and encourage student involvement and discussion. After the video ends, the teacher encourages students to talk about what they learned from the video. The goal is to get every student to participate in the discussion. The lesson plan offers specific tips to make sure this happens. Through these discussions, students work on understanding the main points of the lesson and think about how they can use what they learned in real life. The ESD classes are designed to help students in grades 4 to 6.
The expected advantages of this program are: (a) Creating a fun and interesting place for learning; (b) meeting the worldwide need for high-quality English education; (c) improving English skills for students in grades 4 to 6 with engaging video lessons and help from teachers, making it possible for students all over the country to learn English well and meet international levels; (d) bettering communication abilities by encouraging students to take part in discussions.
The ESD project is still in the initial phase of its development. Current activities involve: (a) improving the first 32 sessions based on feedback received from the implemented schools (b) enhancing teacher training programs; (c) expanding the project to additional schools equipped with Computer Literacy Centers (CLCs) and/or Smart Class Rooms (SCRs), which entails training teachers, distributing lesson plans, and tracking the program's advancement.
Our Math Skills Development Program is designed for 6th grade to make mathematics not only understandable but also enjoyable for students. We focus on foundational concepts, ensuring a strong understanding from the outset, laying the groundwork for lifelong mathematical success.
The program will start in mid 2024 for piloting in five schools that have Smart ClassRooms. The course will be delivered through recorded class video which is taken by expert teachers from different universities. And educational experts designed the lesson plans and videos aligning with the students' syllabus and class time frame. Teachers from the selected schools will take part as a facilitator to run these video content in their own classrooms. Additionally, PI will conduct training sessions to equip local teachers with the necessary skills for this program.
After piloting this program we will evaluate the achievement of students and also monetize teachers feedback for further development of our program.
Empowering Bangladesh's students with enjoyable and accessible math education, fostering deep understanding and confidence for lifelong success.
This program is designed specifically for 6th grade students, our program aims to make mathematics not only understandable but also enjoyable. We focus on foundational concepts, ensuring a strong understanding right from the start, paving the way for lifelong mathematical success.
Starting in mid-2024, our program will be piloted in five schools equipped with Smart Class Rooms. Expert teachers from various universities have created recorded class videos and lesson plans, perfectly aligned with the students' syllabus and class schedule. Local teachers will serve as facilitators, delivering these engaging video contents in their own classrooms. Additionally, we conduct training sessions to equip teachers with the necessary skills for effective implementation.
Following the pilot phase, we will evaluate student achievement and gather feedback from teachers to further enhance our program.
Our vision is to empower Bangladesh's students with enjoyable and accessible math education, fostering deep understanding and confidence for lifelong success.
Our objectives include designing an engaging program, focusing on foundational concepts, empowering students and teachers, piloting in Smart Class Rooms, conducting training sessions, and continuously improving based on feedback.
We aim to reach a maximum of 100 schools in rural areas across Bangladesh after modifying and developing the program.
At Progress Through Innovation (PI), we're on a mission to make sure everyone in Bangladesh has the digital skills they need to thrive in today's world. Our country is moving towards becoming a digital/smart country, and we believe that everyone including students of rural or under privileged area should be a part of this journey.
That's why we're working hard to bring technology education to young people in rural areas who may not have had the same opportunities as others. Currently, we're active in 100 schools across Bangladesh, but we're not stopping there.
We're excited to introduce our Digital Skills Development Program, a three-month course designed especially for underprivileged students. This isn't your typical classroom setup – we're all about hands-on learning. Each day, students will spend one and a half hours learning new skills and then another half-hour putting them into practice on the computer.
Our lab set up is good enough, with just ten students per batch, and each student gets their own computer buddy to learn alongside. We make learning fun with interactive activities and projects that build real-world skills.
With our program, we're not just teaching students how to use computers – we're giving them the tools they need to succeed in today's digital world.
Our Road Safety Awareness Program aims to educate individuals of all ages about the importance of road safety through engaging videos and interactive learning. We believe that spreading awareness about traffic signs and basic road safety knowledge can significantly reduce accidents and save lives.
To enroll in our program, kindly register using the provided form. Children who doesn’t have email adress can enroll with their guardian's email address. Registration allows access to our comprehensive course materials and assessments.
Our program features a series of informative videos covering various aspects of road safety, including:
At the end of each video, participants will be presented with questions to assess their understanding of the content. Achieving a score of 60% or higher on these assessments will qualify participants for a certificate of completion.
Upon successfully completing the program and achieving the required scores, participants will receive a certificate of commitment. This certificate serves as proof of their dedication to following road safety laws and regulations.
