CLP-PI English Club: 21st-Century Speaking Skill Development Program
About This Program
The CLP-PI English Club is an initiative of Progress through Innovation Society (PI-BD) designed to strengthen 21st-century English speaking and communication skills among secondary-level students. The program will be implemented targeting students from Classes 6 to 8.
In today’s globalized world, academic success alone is not sufficient. Students must also be able to communicate clearly, express opinions confidently, ask relevant questions, and listen respectfully. The CLP-PI English Club addresses these needs by creating a supportive, practice-oriented environment where students can gradually build confidence and fluency in English.
The program will run for 8 months with 30 selected students (10 from each class). Using a blended learning model, students will participate in weekly sessions that combine online smart classroom instruction led by USA-based volunteers and on-campus interactive practice activities. Learning methods include public speaking, storytelling, role-play, debate, extempore speech (Just a Minute), vocabulary development, and everyday English usage.
A strong emphasis is placed on student leadership and sustainability. Teachers will act as club coordinators, while students will take on leadership roles such as Club Leader, Deputy Leader, and Associates. Over time, students will be empowered to manage club activities independently. Program quality will be ensured through regular monitoring and baseline, midline, and endline assessments.
Through this initiative, students are expected to develop fluency in spoken English, critical thinking and questioning skills, leadership and teamwork abilities, and respectful communication habits, preparing them for higher education and real-life challenges.
